Five Tips for the Highly Effective Trade Show and Exhibit Graphics

Five Tips for the Highly Effective Trade Show and Exhibit Graphics

When you start planning the design of your trade show booth, you’ll have a lot of decisions to make. Some of the most important will involve the graphic design and branding of your booth. Consider these five tips that will help you with effective graphic design. • Keep it Simple - While you might think it necessary to use every inch of space to give visitors information, the reality is that usually less is more. Too much information and “clutter” will overwhelm visitors and make it more difficult for people to concentrate on what’s truly important. The message should integrate into your environmental branding creating a cohesive atmosphere for success.

• Typeface is Important - The fonts or typefaces you use have a significant impact on the overall feel of your booth. First, don’t use too many fonts. One or two different fonts are sufficient; any more will be overwhelming and can make your booth appear unprofessional. When choosing fonts, avoiding graphical fonts (unless they are part of your logo) is best–these are harder to read and less professional. A clean, easy to read typeface is the best choice for your main information. Then, perhaps use something with a bit more flair for impact statements or your logo.

• Bring Your Brand to the Forefront with Trade Show Branding - While a company like Starbucks or Apple is already well known, you need to do everything you can to remind visitors who you are and what you stand for. Your brand should be the central theme of your booth–everything else comes second.

• Quality Matters - You may get away with using low-resolution graphics on a website or even on a small product like a brochure. However, when you’re building your trade show booth, it is essential to use high-quality images. With larger trade show booth graphics, every flaw is more prominent. Spending extra for professional graphic design will pay off.

• Think Height - If you want your booth to be visible from down the aisle or across the room, you need height. Utilizing larger exhibitor graphics and building up will allow you to get the most bang for your booth space. The importance of your graphics and branding cannot be understated. That’s why it is vital to work with a professional that understands both graphic design best practices and booth design–this will help you achieve the best possible results with the time you spend at a trade show or exhibition.
